3536 LIVEDRAVA - Riparian Ecosystem Restoration of the Lower Drava River in Slovenia The most important actions are: transformation of 61 ha of former wastewater basins into a semi-natural wetland as a stopover site for migrating birds (Ormoz Basins); establishment of a grazing system; removal of illegally built fishing and hunting platforms; creation of a new artificial breeding island; opening up and restoration of three side arms of the Drava River (total length of 1.5 km) Creation of semi-natural wetlands near the Drava river, Slovenia

3537 LIVEDRAVA Projekt z naslovom »Obnova rečnega ekosistema nižinskega dela Drave v Sloveniji« z akronimom »LIVEDRAVA«, je zaživel s 01.09.2012 in bo trajal do 31.12.2017. Partnerji projekta so: VGB Maribor d.o.o., Drava Vodnogospodarsko podjetje Ptuj, d.d. in Mestna občina Ptuj. 3260 Linking floodplain hydraulics and sedimentation patterns along arestored river channel: River Odense, Denmark The links between floodplain hydraulics and deposition of sediment, organic matter and phosphorus were investigated along a 6 km re-meandered channel section of RiverOdense, Denmark. A 2D dynamic river and floodplain model was set up for the investigated floodplainarea. The flow model was validated against in situ measurements of flow velocities and depths duringa one-day field campaign in January 2012. The predicted duration of inundations, distances to inflow, flow velocities, and informationon microtopography were compared with sedimentation patterns on the floodplain. Three distinct flowregimes were predicted by the hydraulic model and were classified as small, medium and large inundation events according to spatial extent and inundation depth. The model predicts spatially and temporally changing zones of confluence on the floodplain due to variations in inundation depth. Restoration of the Odense river, Denmark

3544 LIFE FOR THE BOURGAS LAKE - Ensuring Conservation of Priority Bird Species and Coastal Habitats at the Bourgas Natura 2000 Wetland Sites The Bulgarian Black Sea coast consists of a complex of coastal wetlands providing important breeding and wintering habitats for a significant number of bird species. The complex is an important migration stop for hundreds of thousands of birds flying on the East-European migratory route “Via Pontica.” Notably, these coastal wetlands are the most significant breeding, wintering and staging sites in Europe for four globally endangered birds: pygmy cormorant (Phalacrocorax pygmeus); Dalmatian pelican (Pelecanus crispus); white-headed duck (Oxyura leucocephala); and ferruginous duck (Aythya niroca) as well as the bittern (Botaurus stellaris). Despite the wetlands being classified as Natura 2000 sites and being protected in specific areas according to national legislation, there are still major threats to these birds that need to be tackled. Many of these come from the immediate proximity of the major Black Sea port and tourist destination, Burgas. They include habitat change and disturbance, power lines, illegal killing, accidental net catching, and industrial accidents.  Wetland management on the Burgas lakes, Bulgaria
3543 LIFE FOR THE BOURGAS LAKE - Ensuring Conservation of Priority Bird Species and Coastal Habitats at the Bourgas Natura 2000 Wetland Sites The †œLife for the Bourgas lakes† project aims to secure the long-term conservation of the five bird species included in Annex I of the Birds Directive and the sustainable management of their wetland habitats around the city of Burgas. To achieve this, it plans to: Wetland management on the Burgas lakes, Bulgaria
