inwetland restorationprojects in theBalticRegion
In the case studies onwetland restoration andmanagement activities in theBaltic States, the
information and communicationwith stakeholders have been focused on raising awareness
about the importance ofwetlands, inparticular thevalues of species andhabitats. During the
restoration of the raised bogsAklais inLatvia, the project team created a
documentary
‘Mires
uncovered’ and
mobile exhibition
‘Secrets of Mires’. When Amalvas and Zuvintas wetlands,
Lithuania, were restored, the project also developed a documentary on ‘Revival of wetlands’,
andmodernised exhibition about raised bogs in theVisitor Centre of the Zuvintas biosphere
reserve. Asmanywetland restoration projects are implementedwith financial support from
LIFE programme,
informationboards
are set up at the project sites. They include information
about the area, implemented
activities, and importance
of the site for nature
conservation.
